Research Associate

Dr. Weiguo Zhang

Weiguo Zhang was born in 1982 in Shandong province of China. He studied Applied Chemistry at Shandong University (2000 – 2004). After obtaining his BSc degree, Weiguo continued to do research work at State Key Laboratory of Crystal Materials as a PhD student at the same university (2004-2009). He joined Halasyamani’s research group at University of Houston to conduct single crystal growth and characterization, as soon as he got his PhD degree in July 2009. He has successfully grown many noncentrosymmetric crystals such as BaTeMo2O9 (BTM), Na2TeW2O9 (NTW), Cs2TeW3O12 (CTW), BaCuTeO6, LiFeP2O7, etc. Weiguo enjoys cinema, swimming, badminton, table tennis and tai chi.

Dr. Tongqing Sun:

Tongqing Sun was born in Jiangsu province of China. He is an Associate Professor at Nankai University. He obtained his bachelor degree (1994-1998) and PhD degree (1998-2004) from Tsinghua University. His study interests concentrate on inorganic functional materials, especially nonlinear optical crystals. Tongqing is keen on table tennis, cooking and photography.


Dr. Yanjun Li:

Yanjun Li was born in Hubei province of China. He is an Associate Professor at Wuhan University of Science and Technology. He obtained his master degree from Central China Normal University (2001-2004) and PhD degree from Wuhan University (2007-2011). His research interests focus on nonlinear optical materials. Yanjun enjoys music, reading, swimming and hiking.

Lili Liu:

Lili Liu was born in Hebei province of China. She studied Material Physics at Hebei University of Technology (2008-2012). After obtaining Bachelor degree, she was admitted to Xinjiang Technical Institute of Physics and Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences to do research work as a PhD student in Material Physics and Chemistry (2012-2017). After obtaining her PhD degree in July 2017, she joined Prof. Halasyamani’s research group at University of Houston to conduct research on the synthesis and growth of new functional inorganic crystals.

Meng was born in Shandong province of China, and studied for her bachelors degree in Polymer Engineering at Qingdao University of Science and Technology(2011-2014)and earned her masters degree in polymer science at The University of Akron(2014-2015). Her interests are swimming, running and traveling.
